TravelPerk Sustainability Policy
Principles
At TravelPerk we believe the meeting that matters happens in person.
We believe human connections that happen in real life are crucial for companies and employees; they spark innovation, creativity and a sense of belonging.
But we also understand what it means to the world to meet in person.
That is why we are committed to being a net-zero company ourselves, helping every company and traveller around the world, travel more sustainably and take responsibility for their journeys.
We believe that the time to act is now, we cannot wait for politicians or regulations to be forced upon us.
Net-Zero Strategy
As part of our commitment to being a net-zero company, TravelPerk has taken the decision to offset the total Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, that occurred from its operational activities since 2018; this will an ongoing commitment. Details of the carbon reduction projects we helped to support and our project selection criteria can be found here. Our carbon offset strategy follows the Oxford Carbon Offsetting Principles.
We have a target to reduce our emissions intensity [tCO2e/$revenue] by 8% year on year, in line with the Paris 1.5 Degree target. We have a signed SBTi commitment letter and plan to have a validated SBTi target by the end of 2023.
Carbon Reduction Targets
At TravelPerk we believe that analysing travel data is one of the key ways companies can help to reduce their Scope 3 emissions and evaluate cost-effective net-zero pathways. Using our internal analytics tools we have set a target of a 15% reduction in our business travel carbon footprint [CO2e/km] by the end of 2023, against a 2021 baseline.
TravelPerk also fully supports the transition to clean energy for global electricity usage. So we are setting a target that our Scope 1 and 2 energy usage will come from 100% renewable sources by the end of 2023.
Governance and Review
The control and implementation of this policy will be overseen by James Dent, Head of ESG & Sustainability and will be reviewed annually.
